Xavi expresses his satisfaction with the positive attitude of Barcelona’s captain, even in light of his diminished role within the team.

After the departures of Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba during the summer, Sergi Roberto assumed the role of FC Barcelona’s first captain. However, the experienced utility player has had limited opportunities to lead the team onto the field this season, with very little playing time.

Out of Barcelona’s seven matches across all competitions this season, Roberto has started only two and has played a total of 174 minutes. In fact, he has been on the bench as an unused substitute in the team’s last three La Liga matches. Despite his reduced role and limited playing time, SPORT reports that Roberto maintains a commendable attitude in training and remains fully engaged with the team, ensuring there are no issues within the group.

Manager Xavi Hernandez is said to be “delighted” with Roberto’s conduct, even though he has taken on a less prominent role. Joao Cancelo has become the preferred choice at right-back, and Xavi has numerous midfield options ahead of Roberto, including young talent Fermin Lopez. While Roberto naturally desires more playing time, he respects the manager’s decisions and has not shown any signs of frustration.

The report also mentions that Xavi is highly satisfied with Roberto’s leadership and his continued commitment to the team, despite reduced involvement. The manager believes that as the season progresses and the fixtures pile up, Roberto will have opportunities to contribute significantly.

In fact, there are reports suggesting that Roberto may even start in the upcoming La Liga clash against Sevilla, allowing Cancelo to rest.
