I Can Assure You – Ajax Technical Director Speaks About West Ham Interest in Steven Bergwijn

Ajax’s acting technical director, Kelvin de Lang, has stated that West Ham United has not contacted him regarding Steven Bergwijn and emphasized Ajax’s desire to retain their captain. Bergwijn has become a primary target for West Ham as manager David Moyes seeks to bolster the squad’s attacking options.

Although Bergwijn has prior experience in England with Tottenham, West Ham aims to secure a player who can quickly adapt to the Premier League. Despite the speculations, De Lang confirmed that he has not received any communication from West Ham regarding the Dutch winger.

“I only read about that online. They didn’t call me; I can assure you,” said De Lang.

Additionally, De Lang expressed Ajax’s reluctance to part with Bergwijn, highlighting his crucial role in the team’s success when in good form.

“Steven is an important player for us. We want to keep him, also because he can be very decisive for us when he is playing well. He is a player we want to continue with.”

Bergwijn has demonstrated his scoring prowess, netting seven goals in 13 league appearances in the Eredivisie this season.
