Latest Liverpool Transfer Updates: André Fulfilling Promise and Manchester City Establishes Kalvin Phillips Valuation

Liverpool’s strong performance this season continues to shine. Since the return of club football after the last international break, Jürgen Klopp’s team has triumphed in the Merseyside derby against Everton, convincingly defeated French side Toulouse in the Europa League, and successfully overcome Nottingham Forest at Anfield.

Klopp’s side is currently in excellent form compared to the struggles of the previous season. The German manager has revitalized his team, which is firing on all cylinders, scoring from multiple sources, and boasts a much-improved midfield – an area that posed significant challenges for the team in the 2022/23 season.

Following their victory over Forest, Liverpool is now just three points behind the league leaders. Surprisingly, Tottenham maintains its lead in the Premier League after 10 games, but the question of whether they can sustain it throughout the season remains uncertain.

Even though the transfer window won’t open for another two months, the rumor mill is ceaseless. Liverpool continues to be linked with new signings on a daily basis. Some of these rumors have credibility, while others are more difficult to believe.

From the remarkable to the improbable, Liverpool.com has the full spectrum of transfer gossip covered. Here’s our take on the latest transfer rumors surrounding the Reds:

André (Fluminense)
Liverpool was strongly linked with André last summer, but the midfielder chose to remain with Brazilian Serie A side Fluminense in the end. Given that his current team is just 90 minutes away from potentially winning their first-ever Copa Libertadores title, André’s decision seems well-justified.

The player has now revealed that he received an ‘offer’ from a European club and has left the door open to a possible departure in January. He stated, “There are a lot of things from the last transfer window that I didn’t talk about. It was really an offer I couldn’t refuse, given the club and the league. Every player dreams of playing for a major European club in a top European league.

“I made a commitment to stay with Fluminense because when the January transfer window closed, manager Fernando Diniz assured me that he wanted me to remain with the team until the end of the year.” This aligns with reports indicating that Fluminense had no intention of selling me until after the conclusion of the Copa Libertadores.

Liverpool.com notes: Given Fluminense’s upcoming Copa Libertadores clash against Boca Juniors on November 4, André’s decision to stick with his current team appears to be a wise one. While it remains uncertain whether Liverpool was the European club that made an offer to the 22-year-old, securing his services in January would provide an additional boost to Klopp and complete the midfield’s rejuvenation.

Kalvin Phillips (Manchester City)
The English midfielder’s transfer to the other side of the Pennines has not panned out as expected for Phillips. The 27-year-old made the switch from Leeds to Manchester City in the summer of 2022 but has seen very little playing time under Pep Guardiola.”
