Arsenal remain top of the Premier League (PL) table after a deserved 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium

Arsenal maintained their position at the top of the Premier League table with a well-deserved 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium, securing their sixth consecutive home victory.

The victory was a testament to Arsenal’s strong form, as they currently lead the Premier League and have secured a place in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage as group winners.

The Gunners dominated from the start, taking the lead after just six minutes with a composed finish from Bukayo Saka. This goal extended Arsenal’s scoring streak against Wolves to 32 consecutive games, equaling their longest scoring run against any opponent. The hosts displayed impressive teamwork in the build-up to the first goal, and this cohesion was evident again as they doubled their lead in the first half, with Oleksandr Zinchenko playing a significant role before Martin Ødegaard’s first-time finish past José Sá.

Wolves suffered a setback as Sá had to be substituted due to an injury sustained during the build-up to Arsenal’s second goal. His replacement, Dan Bentley, could do little as Gabriel Martinelli’s effort struck the post. Despite Arsenal’s formidable defensive record, Wolves managed to pull one back in the second half when Matheus Cunha curled a shot inside the far post.

The match gained intensity as Eddie Nketiah hit the post in a surprising end-to-end finale. However, Arsenal ultimately held on for what appeared to be a comfortable victory, extending their lead at the top of the Premier League to four points, at least temporarily. On the other hand, Wolves, despite extending their impressive scoring streak to 13 games, dropped to 13th place with the undesirable record of losing all seven away matches against teams at the top of the Premier League.
