Barcelona Finds La Liga’s Emerging Talent Highly Appealing

FC Barcelona faced the departure of key attackers, including Ousmane Dembele, during the last summer transfer window. While Joao Felix joined the club, manager Xavi has had to rely on young talents like Lamine Yamal to maintain a competitive attacking lineup. Injuries to Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha further exacerbated the situation. To prevent such issues in the future, the club is actively seeking to bolster its attack, with a particular focus on acquiring a left winger.

SPORT reports that this request comes directly from Xavi, and the club has already initiated efforts to fulfill it. They have compiled a list of potential forwards, and one prominent name on that list is Brazilian talent Savio Moreira de Oliveira.

Savio has been a standout performer in La Liga this season while playing for Girona under Michel’s management. He has notched three goals and provided four assists in eleven appearances in Spain, drawing significant interest from Barcelona.

At just 19 years of age, Savio aligns with the club’s criteria of youth and room for development, which is also endorsed by Barcelona’s Sporting Director. Unlike some other wingers, like Raphinha, who can sometimes appear one-dimensional, Savio brings a more versatile approach that has garnered the admiration of Deco, the Sporting Director.

It’s worth noting that Savio is originally under contract with the French side Troyes, but he is currently on loan at Girona for the ongoing season. This loan arrangement was facilitated due to both Troyes and Girona being part of the ‘City Group,’ a conglomerate of clubs sharing the same ownership, including global entities like Manchester City.
