Celtic intends to negotiate a new contract

Celtic intends to negotiate a new contract with Greg Taylor.

Taylor, 26, will meet with the Hoops this summer to talk about a contract extension, according to transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke, who made this revelation during a recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.

The player and the club are reportedly willing to work together to finalize a deal.

At the beginning of the next season, the left-back’s current Celtic contract will only have 12 months left on it, but Football Insider has been informed by reliable sources that he is expected to sign new terms to prolong his time at Parkhead.

Both Celtic and Taylor are eager to extend their contracts.
The Scotland international replaced Kieran Tierney at Kilmarnock in 2019 after signing a four-year contract with the Glasgow giants.

He signed a new contract in November 2021 to prolong his stay until 2025 after making a name for himself as a vital element of the Celtic starting lineup.

Having started every game he has been eligible for this season in all competitions, he continues to be an essential member of Brendan Rodgers’ team.

In 167 games across all competitions, Taylor has contributed 25 assists and eight goals to the Hoops’ total.

Given that Rodgers is pressing for a “complete overhaul” of his Parkhead team, Football Insider reported on March 9 that the manager is expecting a busy summer transfer window for his team.

In addition to leading the league by three points, Celtic has now gone to the Scottish Cup final following their victory over Aberdeen on Saturday, April 20.

Their next game is on Sunday afternoon (April 28), away in the league against Dundee.
