“West Ham Triumphs Over Newcastle, Tottenham, and Crystal Palace to Secure Deal for England Midfielder

During the January transfer window, West Ham completed the signing of Kalvin Phillips for a loan fee of £3 million for the remainder of the 2023/24 season. Reports from Football Insider indicate that Manchester City initially placed the defender on the market for £6 million, but they failed to attract any clubs willing to meet that valuation for a six-month loan spell.

Furthermore, it’s reported that not only did West Ham negotiate a deal £3 million lower than City’s initial demand, but the total fee is also £4.5 million less than what Manchester City had requested last summer. While Phillips is enjoying his time at the London Stadium, the Hammers are covering his full salary, reported to be £140,000 per week.

Football Insider initially reported in mid-December that Pep Guardiola’s side had set a price of £7.5 million last summer for the former Leeds United star to be loaned out for the entire season. Now, it’s been reported that David Moyes has been informed he would need to pay £40 million if he intends to make Phillips’ loan move permanent in the summer.
