Erling Haaland holds the title of the most valuable player in the world, and Manchester City surpasses Real Madrid and PSG in squad value

On October 20, Football Benchmark’s Player Valuation platform revealed that Erling Haaland has a market value of €196 million, making him €28 million more valuable than Kylian Mbappé, who is valued at €168 million. Additionally, Manchester City currently boasts the world’s highest squad value, estimated at €1.2 billion.

In terms of squad values, Manchester City is followed closely by Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain. The difference in squad value between these three clubs is only €21 million, according to Football Benchmark’s updated data for October.

Football Benchmark predicts that Kylian Mbappé’s second-place position in player value might be challenged soon, with the Real Madrid duo of Vinícius Junior (€164 million) and Jude Bellingham (€154 million) potentially overtaking him in the rankings. Notably, Jude Bellingham was the only player in the top 10 to change clubs during the summer transfer window.

The report also highlights players whose values have significantly increased during the early part of the current season. Two standout players are from Brighton & Hove Albion: Karou Mitoma and Evan Ferguson. Both not only broke into the top 100 players but also recorded substantial value increases (around €20 million each) since July. These players showcase the diverse distribution of talent, with representation from six leagues and nine different nationalities. Four of them are under the age of 20.

Furthermore, the report emphasizes the increasing value of young talent, particularly those under 21. For the first time, every player in the top 10 of this category has a value of at least €60 million. There are two new additions to the list since July: Xavi Simons and Evan Ferguson.

With regard to overall squad values, there are now nine clubs with squads worth more than €1 billion. Notably, six of the top ten ranked clubs are from the English Premier League. After the top 10, there is a significant drop in squad values, with RB Leipzig’s squad at 11th place valued at €651 million. The most valuable Italian Serie A squad is SSC Napoli’s, with an aggregate value of €640 million, followed closely by FC Internazionale Milano (€624 million) and AC Milan (€623 million).

In the English Premier League, nearly half of the clubs (nine in total) have an aggregate squad value exceeding €500 million, whereas the German, Spanish, Italian, and French top divisions combined have only 10 clubs in the same category.
