“Roberto De Zerbi, the 44-year-old Brighton coach, will be absent from the Premier League match against Tottenham on Saturday due to undergoing dental surgery in Italy. Despite originally facing a touchline ban following his third yellow card of the season during Brighton’s victory over Crystal Palace last weekend, De Zerbi will not be present at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as he recuperates from what is termed as ‘extensive dental surgery.’ Brighton first-team coach Andrea Maldera remarked, ‘Roberto is not pleased with the situation.
“I had a conversation with him yesterday morning, and he expressed his desire to remain connected with the team. Although he’s not here in person, his presence is felt through his character and spirit.
“The players carry a significant responsibility. We trust that today they will play in his honor.’
It is understood that De Zerbi will be watching the game live and maintaining contact with his coaching staff.
