Player Alleges West Ham Employing Fresh Strategy for Contract Renewals – Playfully Discusses His Own Prospects

In May, Łukasz Fabiański, the goalkeeper for West Ham United, disclosed that his contract had automatically been extended until 2024 upon meeting specific conditions last season.

However, this season, the 38-year-old has been limited to just three appearances, which include matches in the Europa League and the EFL Cup, as manager David Moyes has preferred Alphonse Areola over him in league fixtures.

During an appearance on Canal+ Sport’s “Jej Wysokość Premier League,” Fabiański discussed Jarrod Bowen’s contract extension. He commented on the winger’s deal, which was recently extended until 2030, noting that such long-term contracts are uncommon at West Ham. Fabiański even approached Bowen to inquire about the possibility of securing a similar long-term deal, suggesting that this could signal a new approach to contract negotiations with both existing and new players.

Considering that Fabiański’s current contract expires at the end of this season, it’s unsurprising that he was asked about his own future with the Premier League club. In a playful tone, Fabiański remarked, “When it comes to discussing my contract, I won’t accept anything less than five years.”

If Fabiański does decide to sign another contract with West Ham, it’s likely that he will continue to serve as a backup to Areola and may primarily feature in cup competitions.
