Former striker praises the excellent choices available to Leeds United in this position.

Leeds United has secured four consecutive clean sheets in the Championship and has risen to sixth place in the league standings, following a slow start to the season.

During their opening eight games, they have also scored a total of 13 goals, thanks in part to the strong partnership up front formed by new signing Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter for the Yorkshire club. Goodman acknowledged that Leeds possesses genuine attacking quality suitable for Championship play, particularly noting that Piroe’s skills might surpass the standard of the second tier of English football.

The former striker also expressed satisfaction with Rutter’s performance this season and Willy Gnonto’s return to the squad after his attempts to leave at the beginning of the season. He stated, “I’m pleased to see Georginio Rutter finding his form and confidence, and when you add Gnonto and others into the mix, their options are excellent.”

Goodman also acknowledged the challenges faced by Leeds during a tumultuous preseason, marked by player comings and goings, contract negotiations, and uncertainties about the squad’s composition after the transfer window closed.

Leeds will aim to maintain their goal-scoring form as they prepare to face Southampton on Saturday.
