Leeds United might be compelled to part ways with an amazing star, according to EFL pundit…

This possibility arises in light of recent reports linking the young midfielder to a move to the Premier League. Over the weekend, The Sun disclosed that both Crystal Palace and Everton were monitoring Gray in anticipation of the January transfer window.

Journalist Alan Nixon, in his exclusive Patreon report, suggested that Leeds could be compelled to transfer the teenage sensation if they fail to secure promotion to the Premier League. This is because parachute payments will decrease to 45% starting from next season.

Gray has had an exceptional season under Daniel Farke, featuring in every Championship match and delivering a standout performance in Leeds’ 3-0 victory over Millwall at The Den two weeks ago. Given his age and on-field abilities, it’s not surprising that Premier League clubs have already expressed interest in him. However, Carlton Palmer believes that even if Leeds achieves promotion under Farke, they may still be forced to let Gray go.

In an interview with Football League World, Palmer stated, “If they manage to secure promotion and receive a substantial offer, it could put pressure on Leeds to make a decision. It’s crucial for a young player to get playing time, and he’s been doing just that at Leeds United from a very young age. It’s unlikely he’d move to a Premier League club and play regularly, so it might be best for him to stay where he is. If Leeds do decide to sell, they might consider a deal that involves him being loaned back to a Championship club.”

Regarding the situation, it’s worth noting that Gray has been associated with Leeds since the age of eight. Therefore, he may not have a strong desire to leave Elland Road, especially if the club manages to make its way back to the Premier League. Furthermore, given Gray’s considerable talent as a product of the academy, any offers from Palace, Everton, or other interested parties would need to be substantial for Leeds to even contemplate selling him next summer or possibly in January.
