Napoli’s Victor Osimhen Could Receive a Fine for His Displeasure Directed at Rudi Garcia

Napoli is contemplating imposing a fine on Victor Osimhen following his confrontation with manager Rudi Garcia during the goalless draw against Bologna on Sunday. The Nigerian striker failed to convert a penalty during the match and was substituted in the final moments. As he exited the pitch, Osimhen appeared visibly upset with Garcia, gesturing with two fingers, suggesting the need for multiple strikers on the field to score a goal.

Il Mattino reports that Osimhen and Garcia are scheduled to meet at Napoli’s training ground on Monday to discuss the incident, and there is a possibility of the striker being fined for his outburst. The report also mentions that Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo had a stern conversation with Osimhen in the dressing room following the draw.

When asked about Osimhen’s reaction, Garcia commented after the match, ‘Even the greatest players in the history of football miss penalties. As for his substitution, we discussed that internally, and what I communicate to my players remains within the locker room. With the depth of talent in our squad, players like Simeone, Politano, and Elmas came on, and I still have Jesper available too. Given our squad’s quality, it’s not always possible for the same players to be on the pitch for 90 minutes, especially with four games in nine days. We won’t achieve success unless I can rely on all the players. It’s a positive sign when players are unhappy coming off the field, just as I may be unhappy with their performances at times. We have a large squad, and I intend to utilize all of them.
