Kylian Mbappe’s Participation in the Champions League Match Against Newcastle Uncertain After He Exits Paris Saint-Germain Game with an Injury

Paris Saint-Germain’s star player, Kylian Mbappe, may be unavailable for their upcoming Champions League match against Newcastle due to a potential ankle injury. The 23-year-old had to leave the field during PSG’s 4-0 victory over Marseille in Le Classique on Sunday night. Mbappe appeared to be in discomfort following a challenge from Leonardo Balerdi.

The World Cup winner initially received treatment on the pitch but was eventually substituted in the 32nd minute. He headed straight to the tunnel at the Parc des Princes. This injury raises doubts about his availability for the Ligue 1 champions’ upcoming clash with Newcastle at St James’ Park next week.

This situation is a significant concern for PSG manager Luis Enrique, as Mbappe had scored seven goals in just four Ligue 1 appearances prior to the Le Classique match. During the game, Achraf Hakimi scored a stunning free-kick to open the scoring, and Randal Kolo Muani added a second goal after halftime. Mbappe’s replacement, Goncalo Ramos, went on to score twice to complete the victory.

The extent of Mbappe’s injury is still unknown, but PSG will be hoping to have him back in the lineup for the match against Newcastle. Following their win, PSG currently sits third in Ligue 1, trailing Brest and Nice, and they have a league match against Clermont before their Champions League encounter with Eddie Howe’s team on October 4th.
