Projected Chelsea Starting XI Against Blackburn with Reece James in the Lineup and a Decision on Fernandez

Mauricio Pochettino intends to field his strongest Chelsea lineup in the Carabao Cup against Blackburn, with one change already planned, and there may be more alterations at Stamford Bridge.

The Carabao Cup often sees teams rotating their lineups, but Pochettino made it clear on Tuesday that he intends to deploy his best team against Blackburn Rovers.

The 51-year-old head coach confirmed that Chelsea’s captain, Reece James, would start against the Championship side, making at least one change to his lineup as James returns from injury. However, Pochettino also emphasized that he will not take any unnecessary risks, indicating that some players may be rested at Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino stated, “As I mentioned before the start of the season, I believe that competitions like the Carabao Cup or FA Cup are crucial for us. Tomorrow, we will attempt to field our strongest team. Some players may need rest due to the need for recovery after Saturday’s game, and we cannot afford to take any risks. In general, we will aim to field our best team.”

Mykhailo Mudryk remains unavailable for the match, and he may return in time for the Premier League match against Tottenham. On the other hand, Enzo Fernandez is once again accessible after returning to training.
