Manchester City remains optimistic about retaining Julian Alvarez despite reported interest from Real Madrid.

Manchester City appears willing to retain Julian Alvarez despite interest in the forward from Spanish powerhouses Barcelona and Real Madrid. The 23-year-old has had a strong start to the season, with four goals and three assists in nine Premier League games.

In a recent match against Brighton & Hove Albion, Alvarez scored the opening goal just seven minutes in. Reports suggest that both Real Madrid and Barcelona are interested in signing the Argentine player in 2024 and have engaged in discussions with Manchester City. However, the Premier League champions are in no hurry to sell Alvarez.

Alvarez recently signed an extension with Manchester City, keeping him at the club until 2028. This means that City could demand a substantial transfer fee in any potential negotiations. He has become increasingly important to the team this season, particularly with Kevin De Bruyne sidelined due to injury.

Since joining City from River Plate in 2022, Alvarez has scored 24 goals in 63 games, helping the club secure their first-ever Champions League title in his debut season in England. Real Madrid, a 13-time European champion, is reportedly very interested in signing Alvarez to bolster their goal-scoring options alongside Jude Bellingham, who has been in excellent form in La Liga.

Alvarez and his Manchester City teammates will aim to regain the top spot in the Premier League as they face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.”
