Real Madrid President Responds to Fan’s Demand for Kylian Mbappe’s Signing
Real Madrid President, Florentino Perez, gave a guarded response when a fan approached him to request the signing of PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe.
It’s worth noting that last summer, the saga surrounding Mbappe’s potential move to Real Madrid was triggered, in part, by a video statement from Perez himself. In the video, Perez confidently expressed his intent to sign Mbappe, not in the just-concluded summer, but rather the following one, when Mbappe’s contract with PSG was set to expire.
On Monday night, as Perez left an awards ceremony, some fans approached him, urging him to “sign Mbappe!” Perez responded with humor, saying, “I have never heard that before.”
More than a month has passed since the close of the summer transfer window, and Mbappe’s future remains uncertain. While he has made temporary peace with Paris Saint-Germain, he has yet to extend his contract with the Ligue 1 champions, leaving the door open for a potential revival of the ongoing saga involving Real Madrid.
If Mbappe doesn’t extend his contract by January 1, it would once again open the door for him to entertain offers from other football clubs. With his current contract expiring on June 30, 2024, and no resolution in sight between him and PSG, the situation remains in the same state it was during the summer transfer window.
The upcoming January transfer window is expected to be pivotal in determining the footballer’s fate. It’s clear that Perez is determined this time and will accept nothing less than Mbappe’s written commitment. One thing is certain: this is the player’s last opportunity to fulfill his lifelong dream of joining Real Madrid, as he has expressed on multiple occasions. After this, Madrid may not come knocking on his door again.
