Germany Secure a Comeback Victory Against USA in Julian Nagelsmann’s Debut Match.

Julian Nagelsmann’s debut as the manager of the German national team got off to a perfect start with a 3-1 come-from-behind win against the USA in a friendly at Rentschler Field in Connecticut. Christian Pulisic initially gave the USA the lead with an impressive goal, but Germany, captained by Ilkay Gundogan, fought back and went into halftime tied.

After the break, Germany took control with quick goals from Niclas Fullkrug and Jamal Musiala. Nagelsmann, at just 36 years old, has the task of rejuvenating the German team ahead of hosting Euro 2024, following a rough period under the former manager, Hansi Flick. Despite a bright start from the USA, Germany responded well and secured the win.

The attacking trio of Pulisic, Folarin Balogun, and Timothy Weah showed promise for the USA, but Germany’s response led to a comeback. Fullkrug and Musiala’s goals in the second half sealed the victory for Germany. Both teams made substitutions in the latter part of the match, but Germany held on for the important win in Nagelsmann’s first game in charge. They will aim to build on this success when they face Mexico in Philadelphia next Wednesday.
